Elston Parish

As the daffodils bloom across Elston, it’s a welcome sign that spring is on its way. Over the coming months, the Parish Council is pleased to share several positive updates and opportunities for residents to get involved in village life.

On Saturday 14th March, we invite everyone to come together at Eramus Darwin Park for a community tree-planting day. More than 150 trees will be planted, helping to improve drainage in the area, reduce the risk of localised flooding, and support the village ecosystem. This project represents an important step in enhancing our shared green spaces and promoting biodiversity for future generations.

The arrival of these trees has been made possible thanks to the dedication and hard work of Ian Ault, to whom the Parish Council extends its sincere thanks. Volunteers taking part on the day will be provided with hot drinks and bacon rolls as a small token of appreciation. Whether you can spare an hour or the whole morning, we would be delighted to see as many residents as possible come along to lend a hand and enjoy the social side of the event.

Residents are also advised that the playground on the village green will be temporarily closed during the week commencing 16th March to allow essential repairs to the play equipment to be completed. These works are necessary to ensure the playground remains safe and enjoyable for all children.

Looking ahead, during the week commencing 16th April, a new, larger swing will be installed. This addition is designed to be accessible for residents of Elston House and will help make the playground more inclusive for everyone in our community.

The Parish Council is committed to maintaining and improving village facilities while encouraging community involvement in projects that benefit us all. We thank residents for their continued support and enthusiasm, and we look forward to seeing many of you at the tree-planting day and future village activities.
